My baby’s First Purees

You have prepared your baby’s first puree with all love and care. But your baby may refuse to try them.

Fruits, vegetables, meat, lentils, beans, dairy and a little later, fish and eggs, all slowly and gradually become part of your baby’s diet.. To get him/her to accept the bowl of food you have prepared, you need patience. These recommendations will help you:
- Choose fresh fruit. Baby is born with sweet tooth and after birth gets used to sweet taste owing to light sweetness of milk.  Adding fresh fruit purees may give natural sweetness to the food, thus helping the baby to accept it. -Do not add sugar or cookies, adding fruit purees is a natural healthy way of making food tasty & acceptable.

-Use small amounts to start with, and if baby wants more, bring him/her more. If the plate is too full, baby will be overwhelmed especially if he/she never tasted this food before.
- If you want to motivate your baby, gladly eat from the food with him/her.
- Do not force him/her to eat. This should be the first rule: your child eats when hungry and refuses when his appetite is satiated. You should not interfere with the self-regulatory mechanism through which babies eat no less than they need.

-The doctor will advise you what to do if you notice any abnormality in growth or weight.
